News Release: On the Death of Mr. Brian Whiston, Superintendent of Education

(Lansing, Mich.) — On Monday, May 7th, Mr. Brian Whiston, Superintendent of Public Instruction, died at the age of 56. Paul A. Long, President and CEO of the Michigan Catholic Conference, commented on his passing:

“On behalf of the Catholic community in Michigan, we express our deep sadness and sympathies to Brian’s family for their loss. Brian’s death was sudden after taking his leave of absence, yet the mark he leaves on the education community in Michigan is one that will be remembered with fondness. He was a good and decent man who dedicated his life to the well-being of children and their education. May Brian’s soul find peace and eternal happiness.”

Michigan Catholic Conference is the official public policy voice of the Catholic Church in this state.
